NEW! Kittypod MINI

Author: MyCatsHeaven

Kittypod MINIElizabeth Page Smith has recently added a wonderful piece to her designer cat furniture collection. It’s called Kittypod MINI . As named, it’s a minature-sized cat condo & scratcher. Since 1998 from the inception of the collection, Elizabeth Paige Smith started Kittypod as an eco-friendly collection setting the trends and continuing to innovate. Her designs are 100% recyclable.

“The mini is a multi-functional design that serves as a jungle-gym and scratching post for kitty, a step for an elder kitty to his Kittypod, a perfect stool for the kids, and complements the Kittypod collection while offering new and exciting fashion face plates to liven up the room…Kittypod is NOT just for kitty.”- eps “

Very spiffy!

Rescued Kitty Gets Good Home

Here’s a wonderful touching story about an abandonded cat, Dewey Readmore Books:

Dewey Readmore Books was the resident cat at Spencer Public Library. He was put in the book return one cold January night in 1988. When the staff found him the next morning, they decided to adopt him. After the library’s board of trustees and the city council approved, the kitten was declawed (we don’t recommend declawing), neutered, and given the proper vaccinations. A contest was held to pick a name, and Dewey Readmore Books was officially added to the staff. The staff cared for Dewey and donated their pop cans to feed the kitty. Patrons and friends from as far away as New York have donated money for Dewey’s food.”

2. Sitting by the front door every morning at 9am to greet the public as they enter the library.
3. Sampling all boxes that enter the library for security problems and comfort level.

5. Providing comic relief for staff and visitors whenever possible.
6. Climbing in book bags and briefcases while patrons are studying or trying to retrieve needed papers underneath him.
7. Generating free national & world-wide publicity for Spencer Library. (This entails sitting still for photographs, smiling for the camera and generally being cute.)

Cats Need Exercise, Too!

One day last week, my very independent inside-outside cat, Doofie wandered off. Her mid-day snack sat on the counter for hours waiting for her to show up. It’s not unusual for her to disappear for a brief time, but rarely for the entire afternoon! I had just read an article indicating outside kitties have a average life-span of 4-6 years while inside live well into their teens. Racked with worry waiting into the early evening, I decided Doofie needs tighter restrictions. The next day locked inside, Doofie spent the entire day in sleep-mode pouting in her bedroom (yes… she has her own bedroom. I know, ridiculous!) The occasion prompted me to consider a diversion, thinking we need some new cat furniture pieces designed specially cat exercise. Since the ‘ole carpet & sisal scratch posts & cat gyms has have saturated the market, why not something more high-tech? A couple of weeks ago, one of our customers sent us a great video which prompted us to the “think outside the box.” How about a tread mill machine for cats! Perfect! Now, where is that electric plug in her bedroom?

sl_backWe stumbled upon a nifty, affordable cat scratcher the other day called the Scratch Lounge. Not that we really needed to add another cat scratcher to our product line, but this is unique because a portion of the sale goes to help animal rescue centers provide free spay & neuter services for low-income families. It’s a nice cause realizing that critter in low-income areas are more likely to be neglected which naturally promotes uncontrolled critter population growth. Besides their benevolence, the creators also have a great sense of humor. Here’s a fun video which proves it just might be the“World’s Best Cat Scratcher” for your 4-footed couch potato!
