Liz, The Cat Cafes monitor their cats. People pay a fee to come in and play with the cats and cuddle them. It provides a safe environment for them.

Wow what a fantastic idea, I’d never heard of this before. One concern I did have though was how the cats are protected from potential abusers – I imagine in a busy cafe it’s difficult to keep an eye on what every customer is doing. Though hopefully, if the cats have lots of high places they can climb etc., it’s easy enough to escape from anyone they don’t like.

Cats are the most interesting pets to me. I recently attended a house party where the homeowner had two cats. They were the most athletic cats I’d ever seen. Jumping and stretching for toys thrown into the air. What a site! Great post on the quirkiness of cats.
